McGill Reroute

Today's efforts were focused on rerouting the trail's original design to more closely follow contour lines which will make this trail much easier to hike. Everyone was satisfied with the revised route. Now we have to get back to moving dirt.

Soddy Gorge

The goal of today's hike on Soddy Gorge Trail between rock climber's parking lot and Soddy Gulf was specifically to inspect recent damage on Deep Creek Bridge. It appears the log jam just upstream of Deep Creek Bridge was tumbled downstream during the last heavy rain. Some of the longer logs stood on end and hit the bridge, knocking off the hand rail and damaging some treads. The high water marks we saw in Deep Creek and Big Soddy Creek were astonishing. I'd like to have been there to see it when the creeks were at their highest level.
